A chemical peel is a collective name for various forms of treatment with acids that aim to remove old skin cells and stimulate new skin formation. The effect depends on various factors such as how strong the acid is and how much is used, as well as how long the acid is allowed to work. The skin gets a lift with chemical peeling as the outermost skin layer is removed with the help of the acids. In connection with the removal of the dead skin cells, the new formation of skin cells is simultaneously stimulated. Another acid used in skin care is Beta Hydroxy Acid, BHA acids, also called salicylic acid and is derived from acetylsalicylic acid. BHA acids are fat soluble while AHA acids are water soluble. This means that BHA acids can penetrate pores that contain sebum and are therefore better suited to use on oily skin or impure skin.
